Waved Basket Stitch

| Description:
The Waved Basket Stitch is another Vintage decorative knot
you don’t see used very often. It is sometimes referred
to as the Alternating Basket Stitch.
The knot that forms this unique pattern is the Half
Hitch. The wavy pattern is the result of alternating
the working cords. See Half Hitch Patterns to see similar Macrame techniques.

Step 1:
Begin by obtaining three or more cords. Mount them in some
manner, folding them in half, so you end up with multiple
strands to work with. The inner ones are the fillers, and
the outside two are the working cords.

Step 2: Make
half hitches with the right working cord,
going around all the filler cords. Tie a total
of four to six knots. Tighten them so they’re fairly loose, and so the filler cords don't overlap.

Step 3: Now use
the left working cord to make the same number of knots, just below
the first set.

 |
|
Step 4: Repeat
steps 2 and 3 several more times. As you continue the pattern,
the knots will twist slightly to form the wavy appearance. |
