| Description:
This Spiral Ankle Bracelet features the decorative knot called
the Half Hitch Spiral. I use Cord
beads to add to the overall spiral effect. It
is a great pattern to use to make bracelets for teenagers.
It can be embellished with all sorts of beads, and can be
made with a variety of materials, including Hemp.
Supplies Needed:
- For Ankle Bracelet, use 1mm Nylon Cord. For a wrist
bracelet, 2mm Nylon or similar material.
- Beads
- 1 Button for clasp
- Project Board and Pins

Designing the Clasp |
| |
| Step1: Cut two lengths of cord: (1) 60 inches long, and (1) 120 inches
long. Prepare the cord ends in some manner to prevent them
from unraveling. Match up one end of both
cords, and apply a small piece of tape. Measure 29
inches from the taped end, and secure both cords
to the project board at that point.
Step 2: Use the long strand as your working
cord. Tie a chain of Lark’s Head Knots to make the
Buttonhole Clasp. Tie enough knots to make a 1-inch sennit.
Step 3: Make a loop with the design, securing
it to the board with a pin. Tie a single square knot to
close the loop, using all 4 strands.

Creating the Spiral Design |
| |
Step 4: You will now make a Half Hitch
Spiral, which is also called the Vertical Half Hitch. Use the long cord to tie the knots
around the three shorter ones. To add beads, pass all 4
strands through each one. If you prefer, you can add smaller
beads to the working cord.
Continue the chain until you are
satisfied with the length of the Spiral Ankle Bracelet.

Finishing Touches |
| |
| Step 5: Tie a tight Square Knot using all four strands. Pass the
ends through the button. Make an Overhand Knot with all
the cords to secure. Cut the ends close to the knot, and
apply glue. |
