Sliding Sport Bracelet

Description:  The Sliding Sport Bracelet is a very easy pattern, suitable for anyone, including children.  The beads slide easily, and can be used to keep track of sport scores.  Use it in golf, soccer, baseball, and just about any type of sport or game. The person who inspired me to create this custom Macrame pattern is Karen Cain, who asked for a pattern so she could make one of these interesting bracelets for a friend.

Supplies Needed:

• 2mm Satin Rayon Cord (Rattail), or similar soft material
• 1 Button for the clasp
• Crow Roller or Round Beads with 4mm holes
• Project Board and pins

Knots Used:

• Hanger Knot (clasp)
• Square Knot  or  Barrel Knot

Step 1:  Measure your wrist with a tape measure.  Cut 1 strand of material, 4 to 5 times the length you came up with.

Step 2:  Fold the cord in half, and tie a Hanger Knot for the clasp.  The loop should be big enough for the button to pass through.  It helps to pin the cord to your project board in the center before you get started. You can tie a different Linked Overhand knot, if you prefer.

Step 3:  Secure the knot to the project board.  Use the strand on the left, and pass it through the bead heading left to right.

Step 5:  Repeat steps 3 and 4 with the remaining beads.  Stop when the Sliding Sport Bracelet is 2 inches less than the size of your wrist.

Step 6:  Move down 2 inches, and tie a Barrel Knot.  Add the button to both strands, and tie another one. 

Another way to attach the button is to slide it over both strands, and fold the cords back towards the beaded part of the bracelet.  Tie a Square knot to secure the button.
