Plaited Chain Stitch

Description:
I came up with the Plaited Chain Stitch when attempting
to make a handle for a handbag. It's a unique way to use
Alternating
Half Hitches to create a chain. This technique results
in a unique decorative weave, and it worked out perfectly
for the purse handle.
Step 1: Mount two cords, 50 inches in length,
to a ring. You need to end up with 4 strands to practice
this technique.

|
Step 2:
Use the cord furthest to the right. Direct it under and around
the two in the center, and through the loop. |
|
| |
| |
 |
|
Rotate the end so it goes behind
the other cords, coming out on the left. |

Step 3: Do the
same thing with each of the other strands. The trick is to
alternate them so you always start with a different one. Be
sure to always use the two cords furthest
to the left to hold the knots, and the right one to make them.
To do this, you'll need to bring down the cord you rotated
in the previous step. |

Step 4: Secure
the ends with the Linen
Stitch, an Overhand
Knot, or any other finishing technique. |
