Figure Eight Bracelet
|

|
| |
| Description:
This Figure Eight Bracelet features two beautiful Celtic Knots, both rarely used
in handcrafted jewelry. It’s fairly easy to make, but
you should review the knots before you get started. In the
photos, I used Satin cord, which gives this Micro-Macrame
bracelet its luxurious sheen and soft texture. Be sure to use the Cross Pin Technique for securing the loops if you use Satin, Silk, or Leather. |

Designing the Bracelet |
| |
Step 1: Cut 1 strand of material, 72 inches
long. Cut 2 strands, each
36 inches long. Prepare the ends in some manner to prevent
fray, but don’t use tape.
Step 2: Start the Vertical Figure Eight Pattern
using the 72-inch cord. Start the first knot 12 inches from one end. The key
to success with this pattern is to make sure the working end passes under when completing each loop. Securing one loop
prior to making the next one will give you some control.
The loops should be small, so that the height of each Figure Eight
is 1 inch in size. You don't want the Figure Eight Bracelet
to be too wide on your wrist.
Step 3: Add the beads after every third Figure Eight. Make the chain approximately 4 inches long, or
so that it fits completely across the top of your wrist
and begins to wrap around. |

Step 4:
Add one of the 36-inch cords by passing it through
the bottom loop, and out through the top loop of the last Figure 8 you tied. The arrows show the path of the cord. Adjust it so the ends are even, and tie 2 tight Square Knots, taking care not to deform the Figure 8 shape.
The working cord you have been using will act as the filler.

| Step 5: Push the ends of the new strand
aside for now. Tie a Celtic Button Knot with the working cord you were using before. Tighten it so it rests right
next to the second Square knot made in step 4.
Step 6: Use both portions of the new strand (36-inch) to tie 2
more Square Knots just below the Button Knot. The original working cord will be the filler.
Step 7: Tie an Overhand knot using both ends of the new strand working together, catching in the original working cord. Before tightening, apply glue to it. Make the knot as tight as you can. When dry, cut off any
remaining portion of the original working cord, NOT the new
strand.
Step 8: At the other end of the Figure
Eight Bracelet design, add the other 36-inch cord in the same
manner as you did in step 4. The 12-inch segment will act as the filler.
Step 9: Repeat steps 5 through 7. |

Creating the Clasp |
| |
| |
Step 10: Add the button for the clasp to
the two ends at one end of the Figure Eight Bracelet design. Secure it with either a tight Overhand Knot
or Barrel Knot, whichever you prefer. Apply
glue to the knot, and when dry, cut off any remaining cord.
Step 11: Make the Barrel Twist Clasp at the other end. It should be slightly
larger than the button. Secure the clasp
with a tight Square Knot (no fillers). Apply glue to the
knot, and when dry, cut off any remaining cord |
