Beaded Candy Cane

  Beaded Candy Cane

Description:  This Beaded Candy Cane pattern is an attractive Holiday Ornament for the home. The red beads and white cord form an interesting pattern, similar to stripes.

The finished length of this design is 6 to 8 inches.

This Macrame project is very easy to make and is suitable for all ages and experience levels.

Supplies Needed:

  • 2mm White Macrame cord (Cotton Cable cord used in image)
  • Craft Wire
  • Needle nose pliers
  • Red Crow Roller beads (25 to 30)
  • Ribbon and Bells for decoration (optional)

Knots Used:

Step 1:  Cut a piece of craft wire, 18 inches in length.  Cut 1 cord, 2 yards long.  Prepare the ends of the cord with glue, to prevent unraveling.

Step 2:  Fold the wire in half.  Attach the cord to the wire at the bend, with a Larks Head knot.  The cord will be folded in half in the process.

Crimp the wire with your pliers so the cord cannot slide out.  Bend the wire into a Candy Cane shape.

Step 3:  Tie a Square Knot with the two ends of the cord, so the wires are the fillers.  Push the SK close to the Larks Head knot.

Step 4:  Slide a bead over the wires, so it rests next to the SK tied in the previous step. Tie another SK just below the bead.

Step 5:  Repeat step 5 over and over, until the Beaded Candy Cane measures 6 to 8 inches.

Step 7:  Cut the wires at the bottom, so you have ½-inch left.  Bend them towards the knots.  You can direct them through one SK to hold them in place.  Tie a final SK with no fillers.  Make sure it’s tight.  Apply glue and cut off the excess when it is completely dry.
